Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How much AdBlue® do I need?

What is AdBlue®?

AdBlue® is the trademark by the VDA used for AUS32, (Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5%). AdBlue® is used with Selective Catalytic Reduction systems (SCR) to reduce the emissions of nitrogen oxides from exhaust gasses of diesel vehicles. AdBlue® is non-toxic, non-flammable and safe to handle. AdBlue® is a 32.5% high quality urea in ultra-pure water solution. AdBlue® is not a fuel and should be used in a dedicated AdBlue® tank in your vehicle.

On average, vehicles use in general 5% AdBlue® compared to the diesel volume. The newest models will use approximately 7% AdBlue® compared to their diesel usage to comply with the Euro 6 norm. Meaning you will need roughly 7 litres of AdBlue® for every 100 litre of diesel.

Where can I order AdBlue®?

You can order our AdBlue by contacting us directly. You can either fill out the form on the website, contact us via email or call us on +351 220 999 052. Frequent users of AdBlue® are advised to contact us for acquiring log-in details for our automated web platform for ordering AdBlue®.

SUPERBlue® AdBlue® can also be found in your local retail store. Besides large quantities, we provide AdBlue® in cans of 5, 10 and 20 litres.

How should I store AdBlue®

AdBlue® can be stored for 1 year if stored correctly. To store AdBlue® you should avoid impact from direct sunlight. In addition, AdBlue® needs to be protected from too warm as well as too cold temperatures. The freezing point of AdBlue® is -11 degrees C. AdBlue® should be stored in sealed packages.

What is Selective Catalytic Reduction?

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is a technology that allows diesel engines to reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides, better known as NOx. The manufacturers of heavy-duty vehicles and diesel passenger cars have chosen SCR technology as most viable technology to meet the emission legislations. SCR technology has shown to be the most effective technology to meet NOx emission standards.

Selective Catalytic Reduction uses a catalyst to form harmful NOx gasses into nitrogen and water. Both not harmful to the environment. During the combustion process, an AdBlue® dosing system will inject the AdBlue® into the catalyst after which the NOx gasses can be reduced up to 98%.
